Open Access Policy

CHARUVIDHYA is committed to advancing open science and requires authors to make all data necessary to replicate the results of their studies publicly available without restriction at the time of publication. Where legal, ethical, or contractual limitations prevent public data sharing, authors must clearly describe the nature of the restriction and provide a mechanism through which qualified researchers may request access.

During manuscript submission, authors must include a Data Availability Statement describing how the underlying data can be accessed and confirming compliance with institutional and funder policies. Upon acceptance, this statement will be published alongside the article.

The journal promotes data sharing to support:

  • Validation, replication, and reanalysis of research findings
  • Reproducibility and transparency in research
  • Long-term preservation of research data
  • Reduced administrative burden for data requests
  • Increased visibility and recognition for authors

Compliance with this policy is mandatory. If data access restrictions arise after publication, the journal reserves the right to issue corrections, publish an expression of concern, notify relevant institutions, or retract the article in exceptional cases.

Definition of the Minimum Dataset

Authors must provide the minimum dataset required to replicate all results reported in the manuscript, along with relevant metadata and methodological details. This dataset should include all essential data used in analysis and presentation of results.

  • Data used to calculate summary statistics
  • Data used in tables, figures, and graphs
  • Extracted or processed data used in analysis

Raw data sharing is not mandatory if processed data meet accepted disciplinary standards. Data may be shared via public repositories or supplementary files. References to “data not shown” are not permitted.

Acceptable Methods for Data Sharing

Data Repositories

Authors are encouraged to deposit datasets in recognized public repositories that ensure long-term accessibility and preservation. The Data Availability Statement must include the repository name and a persistent identifier such as a DOI.

Data Citation

Datasets must be cited in the reference list in accordance with DataCite standards and the journal’s citation style. This ensures proper attribution and recognition of datasets as scholarly outputs.

Supplementary Files

If repository deposition is not feasible, datasets may be submitted as supplementary materials, provided they are in accessible formats and comply with FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable).

Data Management Plans

Authors are encouraged to prepare Data Management Plans (DMPs) prior to initiating research, particularly when required by funding agencies. These plans should describe data collection, storage, documentation, sharing, and long-term preservation strategies.

Acceptable Data Access Restrictions

Restrictions on data sharing are permitted only when required by legal, ethical, or contractual obligations. Authors must clearly describe such restrictions and provide guidance for requesting access where applicable.

Sensitive and Human Participant Data

For research involving human participants or sensitive data, privacy must be protected through anonymization or encryption. Authors should specify access conditions and provide an institutional contact point for data requests.

Other Sensitive Data

Certain datasets, such as those involving archaeological sites or endangered species, may require restricted access. Authors must comply with all relevant legal and disciplinary guidelines.

Unacceptable Data Access Restrictions

Manuscripts will not be accepted if data are restricted for non-justifiable reasons such as personal, commercial, or proprietary limitations that prevent access by the research community.

  • Personal or commercial interests (e.g., patents, future publications)
  • Exclusive reliance on inaccessible proprietary datasets

Support and Guidance

Authors who require assistance regarding ethical, legal, or technical aspects of data sharing are encouraged to contact the editorial office prior to submission. The journal is committed to supporting authors in meeting data availability requirements while maintaining ethical compliance.
